How to Change the Canary Base Path Location (version 26)

Upon the initial installation of Canary software, the user has the option of choosing where the Canary Base Path will be located. This is where Canary stores configuration files for its various services.

If the user wishes to change this location at a later point in time after the initial install, the following steps must be taken.

1. Stop ALL Canary services.
2. Copy the contents of C:\ProgramData\Canary and move it to its new location.
3. Update the CanaryBasePath registry key and point it to the new filepath. This is found in Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CanaryLabs.

   

4. Ensure the folder permissions on the original %ProgramData%\Canary folder match those of the new one.
5. Start ALL Canary services.
