How to Back-Up Canary Software

Although Canary does not include a back-up feature within its software, the following 3 directories can be backed up using a 3rd party tool:

  1. C:\Program Files\Canary - This is the location where Canary applications are installed.
  2. C:\ProgramData\Canary - This is the location where Canary stores its program data for its services including collector configs, calculations, and Axiom charts and applications.
  3. C:\Historian Data - This is the location where Canary stores the database files for each dataset. (If the historian service is not installed, this directory will not be created.)

The directories listed above are the default locations and may be different for your system.
