Upgrading From a Pre-20.2 Version (version 22)

  • updated 1 yr ago

In version 20.2, Canary introduced a new install which allowed the user to choose where the base path for its program data would be installed. By default, it was set to C:\ProgramData\Canary Labs which matched the install location of previous versions. In v21.4 though, the default location changed to C:\ProgramData\Canary, nixing "Labs".

If updating from a pre-20.2 version of Canary, the user will want to make sure the 'Canary Base Path' is set to the original C:\ProgramData\Canary Labs. Otherwise, the new base path will be created and Canary's services will not be able to locate the licenses or any Virtual Views that may have been created.

In the event that the user forgets to edit the base path location and needs to recover the licenses,  the C:\ProgramData\Canary Labs\Shared\CanaryRegistry.xml file can be moved to the new base path location.

If needing to recover any Virtual Views, the user can move the ModelPlugin.config and any *.sqlite databases from C:\ProgramData\Canary Labs\Historian Web Service\Plugins to the new base path location. Additionally, the 'file' parameters within ModelPlugin.config will need updated to match the new file path.

Restart Canary services to pick up these changes.
