Configuring an Alert When a DataSet Stops Receiving Data (version 22)

  • updated 4 mths ago

To configure a DataSet to send an alert when it stops receiving data, the Canary suite must first be configured to send email notifications. See Configuring the Canary Sytem to Send Email Alerts. Once this is completed, individual DataSets can be configured.

  1. Open the Canary Admin and select the Historian tile.
  2. Click the Configuration tab at the bottom and select the desired DataSet from the list on the left.
  3. Check the box 'Email if no data received in x minutes' and set the desired minutes.
  4. Optional - provide email address(es) of recipient(s) who will receive an alert email. Addresses are separated with semicolons (;) if sending to multiple recipients. If no email address is provided, the email will be sent to the recipient(s) configured in the Messages tile>Configuration>Email.

When the DataSet stops receiving data for the time allotted, an email with the subject 'Canary Historian Message' is sent:

2022/06/13 14:04:56.948 | Warn | Historian |  | (ServerName) [DataSetName] has not received any data in x minute(s)
