How to Transfer a License to a New Server (version 24)

  • updated 3 mths ago

Canary licenses can be transferred to new servers as needed using the following steps:

  1. Open the Canary Admin and navigate to the Licenses tile.
  2. Click the REMOVE LICENSE button next to the product you want to transfer. This will return ALL licenses of the selected product if there is more than one.
    • If the server has internet access, the license(s) will be pushed to Canary's license server and display a confirmation message.

    • If there is no internet access, a message will appear indicating it could not reach the Canary Licensing Web Portal and generate a license return key.

A message will also appear in the Messages tile containing the license return key.

Go to https://www.canarylabs.com/support, click the LICENSING INFO tab, and use this key to return the license(s).
  3. With the license(s) returned, open the Canary Admin and navigate to the Licenses tile on the new server. If a temporary license already exists on the new server, return it first before proceeding. Trying to overwrite a preexisting temporary license with a perpetual one will result in an error.
  4. If the new server has internet access, fill in the appropriate information in the ADD LICENSE THROUGH INTERNET section and check the box next to the product that is being licensed.
  5. Click GET LICENSE. A confirmation window will appear indicating the license has been added.

  6. If the new server does not have internet access, copy the License Code from the ADD LICENSE MANUALLY section and go to https://www.canarylabs.com/support and select the Licensing Info tab. Fill in the appropriate information using the License Code and select the product to be licensed.
  7. Click Submit. A License Key will be generated.
  8. Enter the License Key into the License Key field within the Canary Admin and click ACCEPT KEY.
