Historian saves tag path but no data

I created three datasets in the Canary Historian, two of which were testing datasets.
There were some logging issues, so I thought it was because the number of logging tags exceeded the 1000-tag license cap.
So, I deleted the datasets, which continued logging as usual.
However, I looked back again into Historian/Configuration and found that one of the testing datasets was still there (MQTTDataTest).

When I try to delete it again, it reappears

Finally, looking inside Historian/Database, the Dataset saves the tag paths configured a time ago but doesn't log them.

The only service that uses the datasets is the MQTT Collector, having only one connection group

At the moment, CPW_Datasets is saving data correctly. I hope there are no future problems with MQTTDataTest and the license tag cap. However, it would be helpful if someone could address this bug and help us.

    Hi ,

I'm not certain what would be causing that. It appears something may have been orphaned off somehow, but it is not completely removed. You could try opening the SQLite database that contains all of the settings for the MQTT Collector sessions and see if anything is lingering in it. I would check the SubscriptionsTags table and look at the CanaryDataset column to see if MQTTDataTest exists.

The path I highlighted is from v23. If you are using v24, it would be C:\ProgramData\Canary\MQTTCollector\MQTTCollector.sqlite

      Hi  ,

      Here's the SQLite database

As you can see, there's no other Dataset than CPW_Datasets.

Recently we are having issues logging data. We use the Canary Module for Ignition to trend historical data, and it doesn't work because Canary is not saving tag data.

Because of this, we decided to delete CPW_Datasets and start logging in another Dataset. However, it didn't work.

The MQTT collector shows 90 logging tags, but the Historian doesn't

We are planning to reinstall the software so we can keep saving data
      Thank you for your support

    -- Solution --

The issue was in the Sender service. Going trough the Canary files I found that in C:/ProgramData/Canary/Sender/Buffer were a lot of buffed files.

I deleted this directories and now the datasets can be deleted inside the Historian/Configuration.

Glad you could resolve your issue! The data was probably buffering because it exceeded the tag license threshold in the historian.
