Calculations - Partial Backfilling Removes Data Before Backfill Date

When backfilling a calculation to a specific date, any data before that data is removed. I would expect that data before the date is retained and any data on or after the date would be changed. The photos illustrate the issue, below is a list of descriptions for each photo.

  1. Source tag
  2. Version 1 of the calculation (add 1 to the source tag)
  3. Output from version 1 of the calculation
  4. Version 2 of the calculation (add 2 to the source tag). The backfill date has been changed to be 1:00 PM.
  5. Output from version 2 of the calculation. Note that any data before 1:00 PM has been removed.
  6. Expected output from version 2 of the calculation. Note that data before 1:00 PM has been retained, and data after 1:00 PM has been changed.

    Hi laruer ,

    This is the expected behavior when removing old data. It renames the tag, obsoletes that tag, then starts over again with a brand new tag using the backfill datetime as its initial timestamp.

    The behavior you're expecting will actually be available in v24 where you can do a partial backfill.
