Restrict Data Entry Input by Type

For the Data Entry control, it would be useful to allow the admin configuring the control to limit the type of data that can be entered. For instance, the Getting Started article states Canary can accept data of types "Booleans, Integers, Floats, Doubles, or Strings". It would be great to be able to choose one of these and only accept valid entries. For instance, if it's a Boolean tag, accept 0, 1, true, false, etc. but not 56.7.

This has been a problem for us many times where someone has entered an integer and we would like to restrict it to being a string.

Even further, allow the application designer to prepopulate a drop down list of possible selections, therefore the user would only be allowed to input selected.  This would literally replace the need for additional software for controlled user-input.  Please do this!!!
