SQL server installation required?

Where Canary uses SQL databases for Virtual Views configurations, calculation configurations, event monitoring, etc, is it necessary for me to install and license a particular SQL server?

    Canary uses SQLite dbs for all of these functions and automatically provides the install with no required licensing.
