Getting tag properties (description, engineering unit, etc...) with OPC UA for path based logging
With OPC DA, description and engineering unit come over automatically in Canary Logger Administrator. As I understand it though, the way an OPC UA server exposes properties is different. Luckily, Canary's OPC UA collector is also up to that task (see https://helpcenter.canarylabs.com/t/p8ypl91/how-to-configure-the-opc-ua-collector-version-26#adding-metadata-properties). However, additional work is required when setting up logging to take advantage of that. Furthermore, path based logging (another great feature of Canary's OPC UA logger) doesn't support properties like this.
Feature Requests:
- Could something be done to take over properties by default without additional configuration on a per tag level?
- When setting up path based logging, could we have a property level "append to OPC node id" value or something that could be mapped to each property so that tag properties were available with path based logging in some easy fashion?
I'm not sure about the best ways this might be done but I feel like things like this would be a nice addition or at least "quality of life" type improvement.
