OPC DA tag Import

I have a system with 5000 tags and will be connecting Canary to this system via OPC DA.  I have exported the Tags from the source and I can/have configured them how I want them to be stored as well as other values such as Min/Max.  I do not see an import interface or tool or process to import these tags.  Building them by hand would take a ridiculously long time to pick through the source folder structure that is in the browse window.

What is the method for bulk importing OPC tags?

    Hi ,

The table in the Logger Admin acts like an Excel spreadsheet which you can copy/paste to and from. I would start by adding a single tag to the Logger through the browse, then copy and paste this into Excel. That will give you the format and the column headers which you can then add the rest of the tags to. Once you have your spreadsheet with all of your tags formatted, you can paste it back into the Logger.

Okay, I saw that...I was anticipating an import tool but we will see how that works out.  Thanks

And for my clarity it looks like the group update setting sets all the tag update rates, not the tags themselves for OPC DA.  Is that correct?

The Update Rate is a group setting which controls how often the Logger will ask the OPC server for an update for all the tags in the group. You can add multiple groups to a single session if you want to have different update rates.
