Machine Total Throughput

Okay, I have a weird one (probably).  I get WIP (Work in Progress) numbers from an MES system for each machine in a assembly line.  As product spools up before the machine my WIP numbers also go up, for example: 10, 20, 40, 60, 80..... Then as the machine works through the WIP, the number goes down, depending how many the machine processes.  The machine doesn't reduce the WIP by a steady amount, it could be by 10 or 20 or 30 units.  So the current WIP number commonly would look like this over time, 20, 30, 20, 40, 60, 70, 60, 70, 50, etc.  Where the current WIP would go up and down depending how much is showing up to the machine and how much the machine is processing and outputting.  From this ever changing WIP number I must extract how many units the machine has outputted over the hour, day, etc.  I'm thinking I would totalize the output only if the previous WIP value is greater than the latest value (the machine has reduced the WIP number by processing).  I'm assuming I would also have to reset this number, probably every day at midnight, or else it'll outgrow it's integer datatype.  Any thoughts on how I would approach this in the Calc & Events service would be much appreciated!  Thank you in advance for your time and effort.

Regards,

Tim

This is how I would imagine the data would look like in an Axiom data table....

They grayed Total Processed values are no change because the WIP increased not decreased

    Hi

I believe the aggregate DeltaTotalCount will get you what you're looking for. This aggregate will give you the total sum of all positive increases (delta) for a tag over the specified integral. For your example above, I would expect it to output 180 over that integral (110 + 10 + 20 + 20 + 20).

You may want to test this out in Axiom first to ensure it's giving you what you expect, but then if you set it up as a calc you could have it output a single TVQ with an integral of 1d to show the total throughput of the previous day.

    Thanks,
    Ethan
