Opening a new application/chart and passing date/time range

Hi!

We have a customer that is looking to open a screen with the same time range as the screen that is requesting the opening.  

For example:

User finds a peak value over a period of a specific day on an overview screen.  They want to be able to either click on the trend or a button to "drill down" into a sub screen of the units that make up that overview with the time range they are looking at (could be the overall time range of the overview at that point).

I know there are function calls to open a display, but is there a way to pass the time and duration?
