Canary Admin - Version Check

Hello,

When evaluating and testing newer releases of Canary it would be nice to have the Admin perform a version check. If you are trying to access a historian or other system that has a different version #, have a visible indicator that you have a mismatch in versions such as changing the background colour to red, or changing the tool bars to red or something that is obvious.

Another option might be to simply not allow an older version of Admin to connect to a newer version of Historian.

, I can personally guarantee you that I've been in a situation where my Admin client couldn't connect to a newer historian. 🙂 I think there was a breaking change somewhere in the 24s.

Regarding the other point, I don't have a screenshot, but have seen if you log into Admin and look at the Admin tile, the version in there will be highlighted red if your local client is older than the admin service on the machine your connecting to. Are you not seeing that?

It would also be nice if we could install different versions of Canary Admin side-by-side so you could connect to older Historians with the correct version.

Amen to that. I've got a bunch of customers on various versions of 26 and one stubborn one on 23.2.1. I have to remote into a VM to get to the old Admin.
