Do we create a separate view to create a calc dataset and use it with the other view to create combined view?

We know it is recommended to create a separate dataset for calc. But when we want to create a view with the actual view and calc view. Do we create a separate view to create a calc dataset and use it with the other view to create combined view or we create a view with the actual view and the actual calc dataset?
The regex fails when we try to combine a view and a dataset directly.?

Virtual views can have different hierarchies, so I would recommend creating a single calc dataset for each unique view. So a view may initially have a certain number of datasets that contain the SCADA data. When you write calculations based upon this view, you should write them to their own dataset. Once that dataset is created, edit the view to include it as a data source.

A view can be built upon datasets and/or sub-views.
