Changed computer name - missing local historian and virtual views

Good day everyone.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

I changed my computer name recently and when I opened Canary Administrator I noticed that the Views Tile is blank. The localhistorian and virtual views are missing. I tried to add the local historian on the views configuration but it doesn't work. I also can't create a new view because there is no selection to add a view source. On the security permissions, I can still see my datasets. I provided screenshots so you can see what happened.

Thanks.

    Hi kevin ,

If you open the registry, what do you see for Historians? SMASON is the name of my machine.

You may have the old machine name still in here.

Remove any entries that are not the actual historian machine name, similar to my screenshot, then restart Views.

    Amazing! Thanks for the help.

    They're back.

Another question, what if for some reason all these views we're deleted. Nothing left but the machine name isn't changed.

This still doesn't look right. You should only see one "Local Historian" view. If you have virtual views built on top of this, you would see it listed as a "Virtual View". When a view is created, it's path is stored in the ModelPlugin.config file with the corresponding sqlite database.

The only thing that should exist in the registry is what you see in my original screenshot, the default entry and the actual machine name.

Alright. So now I deleted the other files on the registry and left the default and my new machine name.

Now I only see 1 "local historian" view on the views tile.

So this is what's supposed to be, right?

Correct. Then if you create virtual views, it will actually say "Virtual View" in the tile.

Alright. Great. On the other hand, what if someone either intentionally or accidentally deleted the "local historian" view, is it the same fix? on the registry?

Yes, it is looking in the registry for the historian machine name.
